Blogging, finally.

I've been a "future blogger" for some years now. I have always been interested in writing but the thought of having to keep a blog seemed like a daunting task, considering (WARNING: some exaggeration here) the amount of school work I have to do (I'm currently in college, working on my thesis), and all the extracurricular stuff that I do, and the bulk of house chores that I do every weekends, and I have to maintain what little social life I have. . . blah blah excuses blah. . . My Multiply page is entitled Tulalangtambay because I was, and sometimes still am, a slacker.

The truth is, though I have thought about creating blogs (yes, blogs, blogsesses actually) I never really had that much motivation to keep one. But now, so many things have changed. Suddenly, I feel like there is so much I need to say. I have been learning and creating things that I want other people to know about. I think I might have dislodged that writer's block (which plagued me for years now) when I bumped my head the other day.

The main content of this blog will be dedicated to all sorts of crafts that I have been spending so much time on since my entry to college. I used to do beaded accessories but I found the craft tedious, time-consuming and not very income-generating. Next, I used my doodling skills and tried paper crafts. I still do them sometimes, but I'm currently focusing on something more profitable-- shoe painting. At first, I wanted to draw on shirts but I couldn't find plain, light colored shirts. The sort of shirts that I liked, that is. That was when I thought about shoes and realized that plain white shoes are easier to find. I researched about shoe painting and experimented on my shoes and those of some friends. Now I'm accepting commissions for custom-painted shoes.

The arts and crafts will be the main focus of the blog. Occasionally, I will be writing about something else. At some point, I will lose my way and forget about the art and just write. And then I will be gone for some time and come back with some newly learned craft to show off. This is how it has always been. Hopefully not how it will always will be. But there.

Next time, I will be writing a brief history of my shoe painting career and I will also be posting photos of the commissions that I have completed. Here is the third pair of shoes I painted. I made it for my friend, Lori Navida, who took these pictures and created, erm. . . whatever-you-call-that-sort-of-output.

I'll be back with more stories and photos. (:
